Brussels Beer City
Online book launch + drink-a-long with Eoghan Walsh
Hosted by Breandán Kearney, Belgian Smaak
Thursday October 22, 9pm CET/8pm UK
To celebrate the launch of Brussels Beer City: Stories from Brussels’ Brewing Past, we’ve teamed up with award-winning writer Breandán Kearney, founder of Belgian Smaak, for an online launch and beer tasting.
Brussels Beer City is the first book in English to attempt to tell the story of brewing in Brussels in the 19th and 20th centuries, from its transformation as an artisanal family business into an industrial titan, and its subsequent extinction and rebirth in the 2010s.
You can pick up a copy of the book here ahead of the event.
Together with Breandán, we will uncover the stories of these lost breweries and the brewers who worked at them, as well as talking about the one-off beer we brewed with Brussels Beer Project, all the while drinking classic Brussels beer styles.
We'll be drinking some beers as we chat, and we invite you to drink with us:
GEUZE: We'll be drinking Gueze from Brasserie Cantillon but Boon, 3 Fonteinen, etc. are all great too.
PILS: We've gone for Zenne Pils from Brasserie de la Senne, but join the fun with any Northern German Pils you can get close to you e.g. Jever
BELGIAN PALE ALE / IPA: We've opted for Zinnebir from Brasserie de la Senne, but feel free to chose XX Bitter or something similar
Space is limited, so register now (Zoom link will follow closer to the event)!
